Review by Mark Bialczak, The Post-Standard about “More,” his second CD:

Dusty Pas’cal’s a blue-collar guy with a sensitive soul.

On the outside, Pas’cal’s a big man who’s head-high into the family roofing business.

Put a guitar in his hands, and he’s a poet.

Simply put, the 13 songs on his second CD, “More, ” are a soft and tender collection.

Under the deft engineering and mastering ears of Derek Yackel, Jeremy Johnston and Ron Keck at SubCat Recording Studios in Skaneateles, that’s the way the CD was crafted. The tuneful guitar, harmonica and rhythm work stand elegantly but never intrude on Pas’cal’s words.

The musicianship’s top-notch from a large ensemble of friends, old and new. Pas’cal knows he can lean on guitarist Loren Barrigar, bassist Bobby Perry and harmonica player Danny Welch, in particular; bassist Chris Capacelli, keyboardist Rick Jewett, and percussionists Hobe Abbott, Ron Thompson and Ron Keck provide a sturdy foundation.

Pas’cal is intent on sharing what he’s learned about love and life during his 31 years on the planet. Anybody who’s felt the bumps in the road — and haven’t we all? — will relate.

In the title cut, he hopes for better things from himself … but doesn’t know if he’ll get there.

“I only wanted you and nothing more, ” Pas’cal sings in his rich voice. “Lately I’ve been praying for the patience and the will to give you more. … Will I wind up in the end just a friend of beg and steal and borrow?”

In “Brick and Stone, ” he sings of the foundations of life that tether a wandering soul.

“I’m a little crazy now, ” Pas’cal sings. “Don’t say I didn’t warn ya. If it wasn’t for the leaves, you know I might stay gone for good.”
